Godolphin Trunk
Description: My design for a modern version of a trunk, was commissioned as part of the Hidden Art Exhibition at Godolphin House in Cornwall in 2007. The shaping of the trunk echoes the form of the window mullions in the older parts of the building and the ceiling joists in the dining room. The layout of the house and gardens is designed around squares and I therefore based the trunk’s dimensions on that of the square and the golden rectangle, the end elevation being square and the front elevation rectangular.
Materials: English oak.
Dimensions: W:820mm D:480mm H:480mm
Finish: Danish oil.
